President Orders Elimination of Federal Executive Institute

The President has issued an executive order to eliminate the Federal Executive Institute (FEI), citing the need to responsibly allocate taxpayer dollars and refocus government efforts on serving the American people. The order directs the Office of Personnel Management to take the necessary steps to dissolve the FEI, a leadership training program for federal employees that has been in place for over 50 years.

The decision is based on the administration’s policy to reduce executive departments, agencies, and programs that do not directly benefit taxpayers or align with national interests. The executive order revokes prior documents establishing the FEI, including a 1968 presidential memorandum and relevant provisions of a 1967 executive order related to federal employee training.

The directive states that the elimination of the FEI will be carried out in accordance with applicable laws and subject to available appropriations. It also clarifies that the order does not alter existing legal authorities granted to government agencies or officials and does not create any enforceable rights or benefits for any party.
