Following a deadly missile strike on Israeli civilian areas—including a hospital—Prime Minister After a devastating attack on Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu firmly established that these attacks, one of the missiles that struck the hospital and residential areas, compromised the civilians of Israel and were deliberate by the Iranian leaders. Benjamin Netanyahu condemned Iran’s leadership in the strongest terms yet, calling Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei a “modern Hitler” and suggesting the regime of genocidal intent. “Khamenei is a modern Hitler. He wants to destroy the Jewish people, and we will not allow that to happen. We will free the Persians from the grip of this tyranny,” Netanyahu said in a national address. The Prime Minister described the missile attacks as deliberate, targeting Israeli civilians, and blamed Iran’s highest leadership. He further asserted that “the Jewish state refuses to be a victim of a nuclear holocaust perpetrated by the Iranian regime,” drawing parallels between Iran’s current posture and Nazi Germany.
While the rhetoric marks a sharp escalation, Netanyahu clarified that regime change is not Israel’s official military objective. In an interview with Kan Public Television on June 19, 2025, he stated: “The matter of changing the regime or the fall of this regime is first and foremost a matter for the Iranian people. There is no substitute for this.” He emphasized that while Iran’s leadership may bear the consequences of its actions, the path to political change must be taken by Iranians themselves. The Prime Minister stressed that Israel’s actions are aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear threat—not at waging war against its people.
