June 21, 2025 — In a dramatic escalation of the Middle East conflict, the United States has carried out precision airstrikes on three major Iranian nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. The announcement came directly from former President Donald Trump, who posted on Truth Social: “All planes are now outside of Iranian airspace. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the world that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!” The operation was executed using B-2 stealth bombers equipped with GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators, also known as “bunker-busters” — specialized bombs capable of penetrating hardened underground targets. The attack by U.S. seemed to be prominent in the past few days as the “doomsday plane” had been making it’s appearances and the initial attack was finally carried out.
Despite mounting international pressure and the destruction of critical infrastructure, Iran has shown no signs of backing down. Following previous attacks on Israeli civilian areas, including hospitals and residential zones, Iran launched 370 ballistic missiles toward major Israeli population centers. The strikes have caused widespread destruction, raising alarm across the region and drawing condemnation from global powers. The U.S. patience ran thin, and they attacked the nuclear sites. President Trump was set to decide within 2 weeks concerning the bombing but struck Iran because Iran did not seem to back down. President Trump is scheduled to deliver a formal address tonight, June 21 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time, where he is expected to elaborate on the scope of the operation, the rationale behind the strikes, and the path forward. This latest round of military action marks a turning point in the escalating Israel–Iran conflict, with the U.S. now taking direct military action. While the administration frames the strike as a step toward restoring peace, the potential for further retaliation from Iran and its regional allies remains high.
