First Official Bunker Hill Proclamation Issued by President Donald Trump”

June 17, 2025, marks the 250th year since the Battle of the Bunker Hill. Two hundred fifty years ago, on this day, a fearless band of American patriots were outmanned, outgunned, and underestimated. They were ordinary men who left their farms, homes, and families exhausted from the tyranny of the British crown, with the sole focus and unwavering goal of defending their freedom. Their courage and moral victory sent the Britians and the world a roaring message that the American people will never waver in their fight for freedom. This day is momentous as the demonstration of courage and the spirit of freedom upon which the land of America lays its foundation is palpable. Julie Hall of the Charlestown Historical Society said,“Without June 17, there would be no July 4,” she emphasized that “this was really the day the American Revolution kicked off.” President Donald Trump is the first to issue an official proclamation this day – June 17, 2025- commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill. The park rangers from the National Parks of Boston played crucial roles all week: They Delivered educational ranger talks in costume, bringing the event to life and assisting with guided tours and self-guided walks. Other aspects of the celebration also included displaying and eating the foods that the Revolutionary soldiers would have had during the battle; they had bread, cured meat like bacon today, cheese, and butter. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu highlighted, “Two hundred and fifty years ago in Charlestown, everyday people stood up for their families and their future,”  Representative Dan Ryan of Charlestown underscored, “The lessons learned from Bunker Hill, about standing against long odds if the fight is right, is a legacy passed down for generations,”  Many residents viewed the presidential recognition as a powerful affirmation of democracy and civic pride.
