President Trump Commemorates Memorial Day at Arlington National Cemetery

Arlington, VA – May 26, 2025 – President Donald J. Trump marked Memorial Day with a solemn tribute to America’s fallen servicemembers at Arlington National Cemetery. He was joined by Gold Star families, members of the military, and administration officials in honoring those who have died in service to the United States.

In his address, President Trump emphasized the enduring significance of military sacrifice, describing the contributions of fallen soldiers as vital to the nation’s freedom and security. “American warriors have left behind the blessings of home and family to answer their nation’s call,” the President said. “Their sacrifice was for today, tomorrow, and every morning thereafter.”

The President also spoke of the broader legacy left by those who have served, stating, “Our debt to them is eternal and it does not diminish with time. The greatest monument to their courage is not carved in marble or cast in bronze — it’s all around us.”

Referencing pivotal battles in American history, Trump connected the sacrifices of past generations to the freedoms enjoyed today, citing locations such as Bunker Hill, Gettysburg, Iwo Jima, and more recent battlefields like Kandahar. “They plunged into the crucible of battle, stormed into the fires of hell, charged into the valley of death, and rose into the arms of angels,” he said.

Other speakers included Vice President JD Vance, who reflected on the personal cost borne by military personnel and their families. “They gave up those moments in their own life so that we could enjoy them in ours,” Vance noted. “To them, we owe everything.”

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth highlighted the symbolic role of the fallen soldier, calling it “the ultimate sacrifice of a free people,” while Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine said the legacy of the fallen serves as “a charge for us all to keep, a charge to carry the torch forward with duty, courage, and love of country.”

The Memorial Day ceremony aimed to honor and remember those who have died in military service, reinforcing a message of national gratitude and unity.
