On Saturday, June 7, 2025, an overnight attack by Russian forces on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv resulted in at least three deaths and 22 injuries, including a one-and-a-half-month-old baby, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov. The attack involved drones, missiles, and guided aerial bombs targeting the city, which is located near the Russian border.
Terekhov reported that the assault caused significant damage to multi-storey and private residential buildings, as well as educational and infrastructure facilities. Local authorities and emergency services documented burnt and partially destroyed structures, with rescuers working to clear debris and assist the injured.
Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov stated that one civilian industrial facility was struck by 40 drones, one missile, and four bombs, leading to a fire. Search efforts continue, as there may be individuals trapped under the rubble.
The Ukrainian military reported that Russia deployed 206 drones, two ballistic missiles, and seven other missiles across Ukraine during the night. Ukrainian air defenses downed 87 drones, while 80 others were either redirected using electronic warfare or identified as non-explosive drone simulators.
